As the population ages and cardiac surgery becomes more complex and challenging, the role of the cardiovascular anesthesiologist has evolved to enhance mankind’s ability to treat life-threatening and debilitating heart conditions. The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) is the preeminent international educational organization for this sub-specialty, leading the way in treatment innovations through care, investigation, and knowledge. The SCA funds research and educational activities to enhance the care of patients with cardiovascular disease.
The society intends to:
- improve the care that patients receive while undergoing procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation,
- expand our efforts to bring basic and clinical science research projects to fruition,
- enhance education of both medical professionals and patients.
The SCA Foundation has been established in November of 2007 (as a separate 501-c (3) organization) to support SCA members and corporate leaders in the achievement of these goals.
Vision of the SCA Foundation
We will be world leaders in enhancing patient care and safety and in developing excellence in the next generation of clinicians and physician-scholars through research and education in the field of cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia.
Mission of the SCA Foundation
We promote and support the SCA mission of excellence in the care of patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular procedures through education and research.
